Lauren Jones’ 2 day residency at The Kin Kin Hotel sold out in under an hour!. So we’re giving you another chance to spend a day at the easel with one of Australia’s most distinctive contemporary painters.
On Saturday 7 November, join Lauren for an intimate, one-day painting experience in the Noosa Hinterland — part creative escape, part masterclass, part very good day out.
Lauren will take you into her world of expressive alla prima oil painting: working quickly and intuitively, finding colour, building composition and learning to trust the brush rather than overwork the canvas. Through a series of relaxed exercises, demonstrations and still-life studies, she’ll share the techniques and thinking behind her unmistakable approach.
No experience is required. Bring your curiosity, your willingness to get a little paint on your hands and, ideally, a willingness to let go of getting everything “right”.
Then, when it’s time to step away from the easel, there’s a long lunch waiting at The Kin Kin Hotel. Seasonal produce, country hospitality, a glass of something good and the kind of conversation that happens when a room full of creative people sit down together.
Back to the easel for the afternoon, you’ll work towards your own finished painting — leaving with a handful of studies, a new set of skills and something entirely your own.

Itinerary
Saturday 7th November | The Kin Kin Hotel
9.30am for 10am start – Arrival and check-in
Arrive at The Kin Kin Hotel and have a warm welcome with fresh tea or barista coffee.
10am– 1pm Welcome and introduction to painting with Lauren Jones
Meet Lauren in the Creative Space 50 yards up the hill, where Lauren will introduce her expressive alla prima painting approach, sharing insights into her creative process, colour mixing, composition and the art of capturing a subject with confidence and spontaneity through a series of studies.
1pm-2pm Lunch Seasonal sharing lunch in the Courtyard at The Kin Kin Hotel
2pm-4pm Begin painting your major piece under Lauren’s guidance, working from a carefully curated arrangement of seasonal flowers and objects.
3pm – workshop concludes & farewell

After October 26th no cancellations can be made.
The creative workshop space is 50 yards up the hill from the Kin Kin Hotel. It is indoor outdoor- covered, but with no wall. Please bring warm clothing incase of inclement Queensland weather conditions.
The workshop must have a minimum number of participants in order to proceed. In the event of insufficient participants, attendees will be notified and refunded.
