Kate Owen At The Kin Kin Hotel

Mixed Media Workshop

Join acclaimed Northern NSW artist Kate Owen for an inspiring full-day mixed media workshop exploring intuitive painting, expressive mark-making and the joyful possibilities of colour.

Throughout the day, Kate will share her distinctive creative process, demonstrating how she builds richly textured surfaces by layering oil pastels with acrylics mixed with mediums for gloss and transparency, often finishing with the luminous depth of oil sticks. You’ll be encouraged to experiment freely, respond to materials in the moment and develop your own visual language.

Working from her studio overlooking the rolling farmland of Northern New South Wales, Kate draws inspiration from native wildflowers, fungi, cacti and the untamed Australian landscape. Rather than faithfully depicting what she sees, these natural forms become the starting point for semi-abstract explorations that evolve organically through colour, movement and memory.

Kate has exhibited extensively throughout Australia, with her work held in private collections both nationally and internationally.

So whether you’re an experienced artist or picking up a brush for the first time, this workshop is designed to build confidence, spark creativity and reconnect you with the simple pleasure of painting under the gentle guidance of a professional artist.
